Math is all around us if we stop and look. Many times our students believe math is only in the math classroom but as educators we must encourage them to think outside of the classroom. It is integrated in every subject we teach, in every career that is taught at school. If we stop and look at nature one can see the symmetrical patterns from a snowflake to a flower. It is amazing to see how some plants produce leaves, petals and seeds in the Fibonacci sequence. How bees build hexagonal constructions because it is the shape most efficient for storing the largest amount of honey while using the least amount of wax. Math is truly all around us.
“The laws of nature are but the mathematical thoughts of God.”
